Thorp precast contacted us to assist them with their project at the Coop’s new headquarters in Manchester.

Their requirement to cast 3 large concrete cylinders pitched over at 22.5 degrees, necessitated a large and substantial timber mould. Each tube was 3840mm diameter and 4000m high.
Their function to aid ventilation of the building allowing fresh air into it, enhancing the building’s Breeam environmental credentials.

Due to it’s overall size the mould was manufactured and delivered in sections with final assembly on site at our client’s factory prior to casting of the units.

The angled base of the mould was CNC machined along with all the formers used, to assist the manufacture of the mould sides to maintain accuracy and economy.
