This project involved the manufacture of CNC machined direct moulds for the production of GRG (Glass Reinforced Gypsum) column cladding units. There were 3 different column designs, single, twin and quadruple all requiring their own production master mould.
Each mould consisted of a timber outer structure filled with polystyrene and rough cut by the CNC to 10mm below finish surface. Then coated in approx 20mm of epoxy based seamless modelling paste, post cured for stability and then remachined on the 5 axis CNC machine to finished surface. Hand sanded to 120 grit and sealed in a hi build primer coating.
The finished products create a highly visual statement within an open plan area linking different sections of O2’s headquarters in Slough.
